Feeding the poor and needy is an act that draws us closer to Allah. We earn His forgiveness, mercies and blessings through this act of charity.

Although some states continue to tally votes, Joseph Biden is the projected winner of the US 2020 Presidential Election.

Biden is projected to have won 279 of the 270 needed electoral votes, with some agencies placing the number as high as 290. The president-elect also garnered almost 75 million popular votes, breaking Barack Obama’s 2008 record of 69,498,516.

Black voters played a critical role in the elections, making up 11 percent of the national electorate. Black voters overwhelmingly voted for Biden, flipping states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania for the candidate. In the cities, Detroit, MI; Milwaukee, WI; Philadelphia, PA and Atlanta, GA concentrations of Black voters shifted the trajectory of the vote in favor of Biden.

Imam Tariq El-Amin of Masjid At-Taqwa in Chicago talked with Layla Abdullah-Poulos about election results, the Black vote and the outlook of a Biden administration in the face of societal issues.
