Shirk in Islam correlates with idolatry, polytheism, and other things that associate Allah with other divinity. Islam taught us to avoid any form of shirk. Muslims following the faith that there is no God except Allah. That is why we should not compare Allah to other things.

In the Quran surah, An Nisa (4: 48) mentions that any kind of shirk is forbidden and unforgivable.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ اَنْ يُّشْرَكَ بِهٖ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُوْنَ ذٰلِكَ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۚ وَمَنْ يُّشْرِكْ بِاللّٰهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرٰٓى اِثْمًا عَظِيْمًا – ٤٨

“Surely Allah will not forgive (sin) for associating Him (shirk), and He forgives what (sin) other than (shirk) it is for whom He wills. Whoever associates partners with God, indeed, he has committed a great sin.”

The unforgivable sin for us is terrified to imagine. If we don’t want to get into the Fireplace of Jahannam we should avoid the shirk. There is a lot of dua from the Quran that protects us from the shirk such as duas to keep away from sin. Here we have some of them. Recite them as the dua in the morning in Islam so may you can be more grateful.

1. The Quran Surah Sad (38:65-66)

Recite the Surah Sad verses 65 – 66 so that you will understand that there is no god except Allah. The prophet Muhammad mentions this as Allah guides Him to tell these statements towards the believer. These verses also taught us how to be patient in Islam.

قُلْ اِنَّمَآ اَنَا۠ مُنْذِرٌ ۖوَّمَا مِنْ اِلٰهٍ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ – ٦٥

رَبُّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الْعَزِيْزُ الْغَفَّارُ – ٦٦

“Say (Muhammad), “Verily, I am only a warner, there is no god but Allah, Almighty,

(ie) Lord of heaven and earth and what is between them, the Almighty, the Forgiving.”

2. The Quran Surah Al Baqarah (2:165)

Recite the surah Al Baqarah verse 165 so that Allah can protect you from any kind of shirk. Allah will punish every human being that associates Him to another divinity with hard punishment. If we don’t want that to happen to us, it is better to make dua for it and avoid the shirk’s form.

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَّتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ اَنْدَادًا يُّحِبُّوْنَهُمْ كَحُبِّ اللّٰهِ ۗ وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِّلّٰهِ ۙوَلَوْ يَرَى الَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْٓا اِذْ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَۙ اَنَّ الْقُوَّةَ لِلّٰهِ جَمِيْعًا ۙوَّاَنَّ اللّٰهَ شَدِيْدُ الْعَذَابِ – ١٦٥

“And among humans, there are people who worship God other than Allah as a match, who they love as they love God. As for those who have great faith, their love for Allah. If those who do wrong see, when they see the punishment (on the Day of Judgment), that the power belongs to Allah and that Allah is very severe in punishment (surely they regret it).”

3. The Quran Surah Ibrahim (14:35)

Recite the Quran surah Ibrahim verse 35 reminds us when the prophet Ibrahim fight against his father and the people. That hard time can be an example for us that there is dua for hardship in Islam. They are worshiping their idol such their God and Allah punish the people who did it.

وَاِذْ قَالَ اِبْرٰهِيْمُ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هٰذَا الْبَلَدَ اٰمِنًا وَّاجْنُبْنِيْ وَبَنِيَّ اَنْ نَّعْبُدَ الْاَصْنَامَ ۗ – ٣٥

“And (remember), when Abraham prayed, “O Lord, make this country (Mecca), a safe country, and keep me and my children and grandchildren from worshiping idols.”

4. The Quran Surah Al Maidah (5:72)

Recite the Quran surah Al Maidah verse 72 reminds us of the Bani Israel’s people. They idolatry the prophet Isa as Allah’s son so that they worship the prophet as Allah. Even though the prophet Isa said to them to worship only Allah, they do not obey him.

لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِيْنَ قَالُوْٓا اِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيْحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۗوَقَالَ الْمَسِيْحُ يٰبَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ رَبِّيْ وَرَبَّكُمْ ۗاِنَّهٗ مَنْ يُّشْرِكْ بِاللّٰهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوٰىهُ النَّارُ ۗوَمَا لِلظّٰلِمِيْنَ مِنْ اَنْصَارٍ – ٧٢

“Indeed, those who say, “Allah is indeed the Messiah, the son of Mary.” Even though Al-Masih (himself) said, “O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord, and your Lord. ” Indeed whoever associates (something with) Allah, then indeed, Allah forbids heaven for him, and the place is hell. And there is not a helper for the wrongdoers.”

5. The Quran Surah An Nisa (4:171)

Recite the Quran surah An Nisa verse 171 makes us more aware that there is no other god except Allah. He is the only one for every human being on earth and the only protector to them. Allah has warned them about the only one they should worship. There are so many people of Bani Israel that abandon the truth.

يٰٓاَهْلَ الْكِتٰبِ لَا تَغْلُوْا فِيْ دِيْنِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُوْلُوْا عَلَى اللّٰهِ اِلَّا الْحَقَّۗ اِنَّمَا الْمَسِيْحُ عِيْسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ وَكَلِمَتُهٗ ۚ اَلْقٰهَآ اِلٰى مَرْيَمَ وَرُوْحٌ مِّنْهُ ۖفَاٰمِنُوْا بِاللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِهٖۗ وَلَا تَقُوْلُوْا ثَلٰثَةٌ ۗاِنْتَهُوْا خَيْرًا لَّكُمْ ۗ اِنَّمَا اللّٰهُ اِلٰهٌ وَّاحِدٌ ۗ سُبْحٰنَهٗٓ اَنْ يَّكُوْنَ لَهٗ وَلَدٌ ۘ لَهٗ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْاَرْضِۗ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَكِيْلًا ࣖ – ١٧١

“O People of the Book! Do not transgress in your religion, and do not say to God except the truth. Indeed, Christ the son of Mary is the messenger of God and (created with) His sentences which He delivered to Mary, and (with a blast) a spirit from Him. Then believe in Allah and His apostles and do not say, “(God is) three,” stop (from the saying). (That) It is better for you. Verily, God Almighty, Glory to Him from (presumed) to have children. His is what is in the heavens and what is on earth. And Allah is sufficient as a protector.”

So, there are some surahs from the Quran that we can recite them daily. It helpful to protects us from any kind of shirk and prevent shirk behavior. And, don’t forget to make the best dua to thank Allah with all of His gratitude among us.
